What a way to end the year!!!

What a wild few months it has been!! We celebrated Thanksgiving in Lancaster PA with Bubbie and Papa, Zayda and Grandma, and Uncle Ellis and Sam. We had a lovely visit with Aunt Angie, and our great friends Marcel and Galit, Remy tried her luck at ice skating and danced in her first recital, and Lisa ran the Hot Chocolate 5k!

We started off the month of December with many birthday celebrations. What is 9 months before December, because a lot of our friends were obviously gettin busy!! We were excited to celebrate birthdays with 7 of our close friends! December also brought 2 new babies into our lives! Mazel Mazel to Diana and Aaron and Sharon and Noah on your tax exemptions!!! We love you and those squishy babies very much!!

(Shane found this while shopping for the birthday presents)

We finished the month by visiting the Zoolights and the Seneca Creek State Park light displays, and celebrating Hanukkah with our family and friends. It is wonderful to see the excitement from Remy and Shane as we lit the candles! Although Shane tried to blow them out every night, we cherish the traditions that we are instilling in our kids.

(Hanukkah on the Christmas tablecloth!)

(The ladies enjoy their Hanukkah brownie sundaes!)

Last, and certainly not least, Shane celebrated his 18 month birthday!! Shane has turned into a running, climbing, and babbling toddler! This morning he told Coco to get in the crate, and asked for a waffle with milk. He gained 5lbs since his 12 month checkup and is eating everything in sight (except for veggies). He loves to give hugs and kisses. We love his laugh and smile, but the child has a temper and isn't afraid to let you know when he is MAD! He is not so great with sharing, but loves to be silly with Remy.

(Shane and Zayda share a moment)

Finally, it was a crazy year in our house! But we are so thankful for our family, friends, careers, health, and each other! Time seems to be flying by, so we are happy to take this time of the year to remember all of the great times we had, and learn and grow from the difficult ones. We wish you all a happy and healthy new year and all of the best in 2012.

A new cousin!!

Remy and Shane were so excited to welcome a new cousin to the world! Congrats to Sharon and Noah Bank on the addition of little Olivia. We can't wait to get up to NY and meet her! Congrats to Aunt Susan, Allison, Jeff, Hailey, and Sydney on your newest toy, and on not having to do a bris!!! =)

Happy Birthday Zayda!

The whole family helped Zayda (Frank Cooperstein) celebrate his 65th birthday. We all remarked that his heart surgery was a success as he blew out all the candles in one breath (there were only 6.5 candles!).

And the Academy Award goes to.....

...SHANE COOPERSTEIN! He has been able to say MAMA all along. After the past week where we added the words "Pizza" and "Costco" to his vocabulary, I was starting to get frustrated. I would like to thank Uncle Steve and Aunt Cheryl for bribing him with a great day at Butler's (where he said Donkey) and a yummy lunch at Uno's! Thanks also to Cousin Randi for reassuring me that he is not broken (at least in terms of speech).

Another Day, another medical claim!

It is my job at MCPS to keep the staff healthy and, over the long term, lower health care costs! The Cooperstein family is not doing their part to help the county!!! Today, Remy tripped and fell at school into the train table!! Another crazy accident from our home! Maybe it truly is time to wrap the children in bubble wrap!

Here are some pictures from our adventure at the ER.

After what the doctor labeled a serious laceration, and having 2 nurses hold her down, Remy left with 10+ stitches. The little trooper did great, and was rewarded with not 1, but 2 hospital popsicles. Our little Van Gogh is doing great, and will NOT be getting her ears pierced any time soon!!! Thanks to Jenn and Julie from RNSNK for taking such good care of her!!

Labor Day. The Irony!

On this Labor Day, I think its appropriate to talk about the fact that although I didn't have a labor with Shane (C-section), that it is still labor to carry a child for 40 weeks, and be pregnant. With that said.... for all my labor, it is about time that Shane say "MAMA!!!!"

Here are some words that Shane says:

More
Please
Dog
Dada
Key
Up
Hot
Hat
One
Two
Three
Dance
Eat
Uh Oh
(And my favorite...) TV

Hershey Park HAPPY!!

What a fun day at Hershey Park! Wet day, but it didn't stop the fun! Sammy Wallenstein and Remy had a blast! Shane and Eve hope they can participate a little more next summer!

Uh oh

Please excuse the nakedness! But enjoy the cuteness!

Life's a Beach!!

The past few weeks have been eventful! Shane drank a lot of milk, built up some new bone, and had his cast taken off! The only restriction from the doctor... don't drop him!! So, we don't plan on dropping him and we hope that this is the last orthopedic visit for a long long long time!

We celebrated some birthdays with friends including friends Leah and Violet! We also got to share in the special baby naming of our new friend Eve. Lisa celebrated her birthday! 32 is definitely different than 22, but it was special nonetheless. We celebrated the upcoming nuptials between Steve Cooperstein and Cheryl Levine with a bridal shower and a bachelor party.

The Cooperstein family traveled to Atlantic City where we spent the weekend lounging at Zayda and Grandma's pool with good friends Brian and Hilary Sperling. We took Shane on his first trip to the beach, where he celebrated by eating the sand. Remy and Shane both protested the chilly water. It was also nice to see Marlene Kessler and the Gordon Family. After a nice family dinner, the kids were left with the grandparents, and Danny and Lisa visited the Borgata for a Bobby Flay dessert and an hour of WINNING at the roulette table!!! Lisa wrapped up her birthday weekend at the spaaaaaaaah!!!

You get what you get...

Well, our brain washing has worked. For months we have been telling Remy "You get what you get and you don't get upset!" This is an attempt to cut down on the meltdowns from the 3 year old when she doesn't, well, get what she wants!

So today I asked Remy to share her veggie chips with her brother. She told me that he gets only one more! I said "Remy, you have plenty, he can have many more," to which she replied..."he gets what he gets, and he doesn't get upset!" I tried to explain to Remy that he is a baby, and he will probably get upset. That didn't fly with her!

She also asked today if God has beautiful wings.... and if God is a man or a woman. Any help on this one??!

SEE!

Shane's Godfather Sam Schlossenberg was famous for this when he was a baby! He pointed up at ANYTHING and said "Seeeeeee!" For a very longtime, Sam thought that ceiling fans were "see." Thank goodness he grew out of that!!

One year in the books!

Dear Shane,

How has it been 1 year already!? This year has flown by so fast and yet we wish there was some way to magically slow it down! You have been such a joy this year, and although we are starting to see signs of a fiesty, independent little boy, we encourage your becoming your own person (even if that little person has temper tantrums).

Your toothy grin makes us all so happy, and your sister loves you SO much. She reminds us of this constantly. We know you love her too. When you see her you immediately smile, and she is the only one that makes you babble uncontrolably. What Mommy and Daddy love the most is how you push her away when you are done, or not in the mood for her! Its a good taste of her own medicine! We hope that you both become best friends!

Now, we have some demands:

1. Start gaining weight. You eat like a bird. At your 1 year check up you weighed 20lbs. This would be acceptable, if you didnt have a cast on your leg. (Toddlers fracture... see demand #2 below!) This makes you 15% for weight (90% for head... bobble head baby.)I now have instructions to give you carnation instant breakfast, and dip your bread in healthy olive oil. This does not mean double stuffed oreos as your sister (who was never below 90% for weight) requests. We will always be healthy, even if that means you are a string bean.

2. Be careful! As all parents know, accidents do happen. Shane, you have gotten faster, and sneakier. Just like Coconut, you are always under our feet, and now it has cost you! A minor incident has led Shane to a long leg cast for the next month. He has what is called a "Toddlers Fracture." Walking will have to wait for a month. As you can see for yourself, he is doing fine!!!!

3. Say Mama! You can say MORE, and we are pretty sure you can say DOG. Mama... seriously.... just say it!

In the meantime, we love you very much and we are so proud to be your parents. You have made the past 365 days so fun and joyous, and we look forward to the peeks, twists, and turns that the rollercoaster ride of parenthood brings!!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Cheap Entertainment

It's a long weekend, the kids are bored, why not send the dogs outside and taunt them from the inside! The baby was happy! Im pretty sure his first word will be dog. Remy's was Coco!! When asked to say Mama, Shane stares and blinks. Otherwise we think he speaks Chinese.

Many firsts!

What a wild and crazy few weeks we have had. Danny started off the month in Chicago for work. We welcomed him home at Bubbie's birthday dinner! Happy Birthday Bubbie! Then we celebrated Mother's Day with family, and Danny's birthday with great friends!! Happy Birthday Danny! We spent some time with our NC friends the Baxter's and spent at Saturday at Remy's school with tons of friends at the Spring Fling Carnival!

Shane celebrated a few exciting firsts! Shane and his friend Leah had their first "date." He took her out for a nice puree and puff dinner, and then froyo for dessert. They shared a little exchange between strollers!

Shane also saw his first baseball game. He saw an entire 5 innings of the Baltimore Orioles vs Washington Nationals at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Shane's favorite part was sitting in his own chair and waving to the people who sat behind us.

Good Night Moon

An old favorite. This video was taken when Shane was first born. I think we are going to start a tradition and have her read this to Shane before he goes to sleep. It most likely wont be in the right order, and he will forever think that "Good Night Stars and Good Night Air" is at the beginning of the story, but its all about the love behind it.

Happy Mother's Day Mama!!

Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers out there! If Shane would say mama he would wish you all the same. Unfortunately, he just likes to eat cookies in bed... maybe next Mother's Day!!!

Spring has Sprung

Shane finally got to take a ride on our neighborhood swings! We have been waiting for the rain to clear, and we finally got the perfect day. Remy decided that (although she is too big), she wanted to sit next to him!

In other news, Yin and Yang (Sammie and Coconut) turn another year older and crankier!!! Sammie turned 10 on 4/25/11 and Coco is looking at the big 11 in June.

Kaka meet CaCa!

She may not have scored, and she may have gone in the wrong direction at the end, but she stayed in control of the purple ball, and didnt touch it with her hands! We are proud soccer parents!

The Thrilling Threes!!!

What fun to look back on a year in blogging!! Remy turned 3 on March 8th which also wraps up our first year of blogging! We celebrated Remy's 3rd birthday in high style with a family party at our home followed by a "kids" party at Bounce U. I highlight the word "kids" because I believe there were more adults going down the giant slide than kids! Fun was had by all, and it will be a birthday we will never forget! Remy and Shane visited the pediatrician for a 3 year (Remy) and 9 month (Shane) checkup. Remy is now 41lbs and 40inches tall. Shane is a whopping 18.12lbs and 29 inches tall! That would be 24% for weight, and 75% for height. He is also in the 90% for head! So he looks like a skinny bobblehead! We were happy to report to the doctor that Remy knows her colors and shapes and can successfully play Memory on the Ipad. Shane can clap, show you "how big" he is, wave bye bye, and now give a high five.

To wrap up the month, Remy had a minor procedure to put tubes in her ears. She has had multiple ear infections since Thanksgiving, and although the doctor tried to be conservative, he felt that tubes would be the solution. Remy was a trooper to say the least! Mommy and Daddy showed her the room where the procedure would be done, she took a quick nap, and woke up asking for a pink popsicle!! We were on the playground within 24 hours.

So Big!

How big is Shane? Well... about 50th percentile for height and weight.... but thats not how the game goes! SO BIG!!! Happy 8 month birthday Shane!!

As the mother of this child, I am slightly concerned that I sound like this on the phone. HOW YOU DOING????? And I'm pretty sure I say goodbye? We better work on some phone etiquette!

Cousins Cousins Cousins!

The past month has been a blur! We rang in the new year with some great friends and new babies. Shane celebrated his 7 month birthday and sprouted a few new teeth. Remy survived her 4th double ear infection and got a clean bill of health from the Ear, Nose and Throat doctor. We hope thats the end of the winter bugs. We spent a nice family weekend at the Jersey Shore taking long walks on the boardwalk (and the cold beach... burrrrrr!).

We have spent the last 4 weekends celebrating and visiting with family. Remy and Shane are blessed to have wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins on both the Cooperstein and Goldfarb side of the family. We started off by helping Alex turn 4! Then we helped Jordyn celebrate 3! We cut the cake with Special Agent Oso (Jeremy)! It was so nice to see Blair and Lindsay too! Finally we got to visit with Hailey and Sydney (and Allison, Jeff, Noah, Sharon and Aunt Susan) in Long Beach, NY! It was a wonderful visit with family that we love so much but dont get to see often enough!

While in NY we took a nice walk around the city. After wandering into FAO Schwartz we left with some candy (Remy) and a new buddy (Shane). Check out the picture. When a 7 month old falls in love with an Uglidoll, you cant leave without it!!

We were so happy to meet and share our friend Rebecca's first birthday with her!

Work is busy busy busy for Danny and Lisa. We are all done with winter and ready for the longer (and warmer days!). Remy is all signed up for soccer! Danny couldnt be happier!
